Luke Thomas Neal
Clinic Director/Chiropractor
Luke Thomas Neal is the owner of North Down Chiropractic Clinic, he graduated with distinction in 2013 from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. Since graduation Luke has dedicated himself to continuous and rigorous post graduate learning, he spends significant time travelling around the world learning from the best minds in Chiropractic, Physiotherapy and the allied health professions. Luke is then able to bring this contemporary knowledge back for his patients in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Luke has a keen interest in treating elite sports people, however most of his patient base are made up of every day people and weekend warriors.
Lukes treatment philosophy focuses around initial hands on care to ease your pain, often followed by a thorough working up of all of your daily habits and movements to identify the REASON you originally developed the pain. Once this has been discovered Luke aims to teach his patients how to look after themselves offering a long term solution rather than a short term fix. This can be done through changing daily habits as well as exercise rehabilitation.
Luke is a lead instructor for Active Release Therapy Europe, which takes him all round Europe teaching Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors techniques on treating muscles, tendons, nerves and ligaments.
Luke also sits on the board of directors at Bangor football club where he heads up the medical team. His job involves treating players, monitoring player injury, prescribing S+C exercises, as well as co ordinating the multidisciplinary medical team alongside the management team.

Mark Mullen
Doctor of Chiropractic
Belfast born and raised Mark studied at Methodist College Belfast and then graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2014 just a year behind Luke.
He took on post-graduate mentorship with BCA board member Owain Evans working at the prestigious Backspace Chiropractic Fitness where he applied himself to the perfection of his clinical skills and specialised in functional movement and high performance. Mark believes in a patient centred and empowering approach to Chiropractic, one which emphasises education and rehabilitation to help patients to help themselves.
After his time working and learning in London Mark took a sabbatical to pursue a lifelong dream of travelling and circumnavigated the globe whilst visiting thirty countries in eighteen months, before being forced home from the southern tip of Patagonia by covid. Mark once again put his thumbs to work. Taking up post in the university quarter where he worked through the pandemic and is now delighted to be joining the team at North Down Chiropractic where he’s looking forward to immersing himself in the community where he’s long since felt at home. Mark’s best friend is from Ballyholme and the two spent their kidulthood singing karaoke in Donegans, and as an adults can still be found in The Esplanade or the Royal Ulster whenever there is rugby on.
Outside of clinic life Mark is an avid writer and is currently studying for a masters degree in creative writing whilst working to get his words featured in print and on radio.”
ANDREA KELLY
Doctor of Chiropractic
Andrea graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (University of Glamorgan) in 2004, and subsequently obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic qualification and a Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Chiropractic Clinical Development.
Andrea’s participation in various team sports during her teenage years, along with a keen interest in holistic health led her to pursue a career in Chiropractic and to later train as a yoga teacher. Andrea is a busy mum of three and enjoys family days out, outdoor pursuits, and practicing yoga.
Alongside treating the general population, Andrea has a special interest in treating babies, children, pregnant/post-natal women, and the breastfeeding dyad; as a result she has completed numerous post-graduate pregnancy chiropractic and chiropractic paediatrics courses. As an adjunct she has trained in pregnancy yoga and in hypopressives technique (postural, core and pelvic floor strengthening exercises).
Andrea also likes the challenge of treating disc and neurological conditions and enjoys treating her ever-growing senior patient base who never fail to amaze her!
Further post-graduate education that Andrea has completed includes:
Dry Needling (Medical) Acupuncture; Kinesiotaping; Traditional Sports Taping; Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (Rockblades); and UK Hypopressives.
HELEN MCCANN
Massage Therapist
Training, health and well-being has always been a passion of Helen’s.
Working in Corporates, She witnessed the impact that sitting at a desk for long hours can have on posture, with problems arising such as repetitive stress injury, headaches, muscle tightness, pain and stiffness. This, as well as her interest in human anatomy are what motivated her to train in Massage Therapy. She studied Holistic Massage, Sports Massage, Seated Acupressure, Deep Tissue Massage and Handsfree Massage and continue to research new forms of massage.
She thrives on seeing clients’ physical and mental well-being improve through regular massage therapy.
CLAIRE BYRNE
Yoga Instructor
Given that no two bodies are the same, Claire provides one-to-one yoga tailored to the individual needs of the client.
Working closely alongside your physiotherapist or chiropractor, Claire ensures that your time on the yoga mat is smart, focused and right for your unique body, as well as providing an invaluable stepping stone from chiropractic & physiotherapy treatment back to pain free living.
You don’t need to be bendy or slim or athletic – Claire provides accessible and adaptable yoga utilising a range of props (blocks, blankets, belts & bolsters) to facilitate correct alignment and make the postures accessible to all.
Claire has an extensive background in mental health services, having practiced in primary care as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist for 17 years. This knowledge and experience allows her the unique, intuitive ability to explore the dynamic between body and mind, including how issues such as chronic pain and emotional tension can affect the body’s natural posture and movement capabilities.
Yoga teachers can vary in their approach and application of yoga, and Claire’s passion lies in the anatomy, physiology, and science behind stretching and movement. This style of practice fits perfectly into the ethos of our clinic.
Claire has undertaken further study in the areas of pregnancy & post-natal yoga, prevention & management of yoga injuries, as well as the management and adaption of her own yoga practice around injury.
She has four children, two cats and a husband – all of whom enjoy yoga in their own ways.
