CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENTS FOR THE GIANTS

Our chiropractor Luke has been working alongside the multidisciplinary medical team at the Belfast giants since the later part of the 2023/2024 season providing predominantly spinal manipulative therapy to the team and backroom staff.

Ice hockey is an incredibly fast paced, aggressive game with huge physical demands on the players bodies, players can collide at 25mph and pucks can travel up to 100mph, this combined with the heavy workload on hips means there can often be acute as well as chronic over-load type injuries.

The Belfast Giants are a large, professional outfit and the medical team comprises of; medical doctors, physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionists amongst many more. Luke’s role is to work alongside and where possible add value to the rest of the medical team. Often this added value is in the form of SMT (spinal manipulative therapy) which chiropractors are most well known for. Although perhaps a small addition in the grand scheme of things, working alongside and being associated with such a large and successful team is certainly enjoyable.

I attend Helen Mc Cann at North Down Chiropractic regularly for deep tissue massage and I cannot recommend her highly… enough!She is a fantastic massage therapist and is always able to ease any aches and pains that I complain of, with her magic hands! 😊From headaches to neck/shoulder or low back/hip pain, Helen is there to help.I attended Helen during my last pregnancy, as she is also qualified in pregnancy massage, and her massages helped to keep me feeling comfortable and relaxed.I always look forward to my next appointment- thank you Helen!read more

My son Ben at the age of 11/12 was getting alot of knee pain when playing football, we were unsure why this was… happening and his coach suggested it could be Osgood Schlatters disease. My wife and I decided to get it looked at further and booked him in with Luke Neal at North Down Chiropractic Clinic. Luke was able to diagnose the issue, explain it in full detail and offered to get us the scans to show the problem. Luke was able to give Ben the attention he needed, the exercises he needed to do to prevent it from getting worse and slowly reverse the issue. Luke is so easy to talk to and has kept the issue fully under control as Ben gets a check up every 8weeks and is now able to participate in all training sessions and play multiple matches a week. So glad we took Ben to North Down Chiropractic Clinic. Highly recommend anybody with similar issues to contact them. 😃read more

North Down Chiropractic is an amazing clinic that will professionally look after you and cater your every need to help… your body feel the best way it possibly can be. For the last year I have suffered from chronic lower back pain. By the time I had my first appointment with Luke in… December, I was no longer able to hike, cycle, play tennis or do yoga – all the activities I loved. Sitting and driving were becoming difficult and physiotherapy, with a variety of practitioners, had not helped. As such my mood was getting low and I genuinely felt that my back would never recover. At 57, I thought my days of an active lifestyle were over. I was anxious about trying a chiropractor but I cannot recommend Luke highly enough. A combination of his treatment, his reassuring, positive attitude and rehabilitation plan, means I am now out of pain and currently walking 35 miles per week, training for a long distance hike. I am back doing yoga, back on my bike and sitting and driving without pain. I cannot speak highly enough of Luke or express my gratitude for how he has changed my life.read more

When I think of my first visit to Luke, with what was worryingly a numbness in my left arm, which he sorted out in an… almost miraculous fashion, and when he began treatment for an aching back, I am amazed at the improvement. I have been going to Luke for nearly a year now and honestly can’t recommend him enough. I was in a car accident 2… years ago and since then suffered badly with my neck and back and struggled to sleep. The moment I went to Luke he could tell instantly where needed to be fixed. Luke makes you feel very at ease in every appointment and chats away throughout, so you never feel nervous. I first visited Luke at North Down Chiropractic Clinic about 2 years ago upon the recommendation of a friend. Luke is… so knowledgeable in his field of expertise and will not hesitate to offer common sense advice alongside signposting to other support! I still attend every 6-8 weeks to help keep my back as “well” as it can be . Between the hands on treatment received, advice/exercises given and caring nature I cannot recommend Luke enough.
